When Others Fall

Last week, I talked about owning up to my mistakes. But what about when someone we look up to falls?

Recently the news has been full of role models who made a colossal mistake.

So, what can we do when others fall?

First and foremost, pray for them.

We are encouraged to pray for others

Pray for the Lord to:

  1. Comfort them
  2. Guide them
  3. Direct their actions
  4. Use the situation for his honor and glory
  5. Provide for them
  6. Use this to bring the person to him {or back to him}
  7. Seek what steps {if any} the Lord would ask you to take
  8. Treat with kindness and Christian love
  9. Remember if you cannot say anything nice, say nothing at all

None of us take delight in seeing others fall.  After all, we could be in their situation one day.  However, we can pray for the person and their needs.

The apostle Paul said, “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.”  {Philippians 2:3-4}

Do you pray for others when they fall?
