Owning Up to Our Mistakes

On two different occasions lately, I have had to own up to my mistakes.  This included taking ownership, apologizing and working to resolve the situation.

Sometimes we have to pull ourselves back up from our mistakes

Owning up to our mistakes is not always easy and in our humanness we often want to cast blame on others, instead of accepting blame and our part in the situation.

Paul wrote “Brothers and sisters, I know that I still have a long way to go. But there is one thing I do: I forget what is in the past and try as hard as I can to reach the goal before me.”   {Philippians 3:13}

As long as we’re on this side of heaven, we have a long way to go.  After all, we are sinners.  However, we can ask the Lord for help, hold our heads high and strive to walk in integrity.

King Solomon reminds us “For the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity.”  {Proverbs 24:16}

Even when we fall, we get up, dust ourselves off, own up to our mistakes and remember the lesson as we move forward.
