Rebel to Redeemed: Train Up a Child

Yesterday morning the church I attended honored their graduates.  I was touched that in addition to the high school and college graduates, they also honored their kindergarten graduates.  I thought about my own training.  We are told to train a child from a young age.  Train up a child

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go,  And when he is old he will not depart from it.”

I was raised in church from the time I was 17 days old.

Did I always like having to be at church every time the doors were open?  No

Did the lessons taught in Sunday School and church sink in?  Absolutely

A child is never too young or too old to learn of God's love and how to pray

A child is never too young or too old to learn of God’s love and how to pray

I had the word of God instilled in me as a young child.   At the age of 5, I accepted Christ into my heart.

I did not understand or know all that meant at the time, but I knew God was real and someone I wanted to know.

The training I had as a child, never left me.   Years later when I was lost in the ways of the world and had nowhere else to turn, I was able to turn to the only person that could save me after turning away from the teaching of my upbringing.

I knew Jesus was real and He was there to listen when no one else could or would.

I often wonder what would have happened had I not had the training instilled in me from childhood.

Have you instilled the love of God into a child?
