Pain Behind the Smile

There are times when I put on a bright smile, but inside my heart is breaking.

Do you mask your pain with a smile?

This has happened more times than I can name through a variety of situations.

When others ask how we are it is so easy to say “fine” without truly answering.

However, we all need that one or two close friends that we can confide in.  The friend that will understand and not betray our confidence.

Psalm 34:17 says, “The righteous call to the Lord, and he listens; he rescues them from all their troubles.”

The Lord is ready to listen even when no one else can or will. 

How many of us put on a smile to hide the pain in our hearts?
