Hymn Story: Comes As You Are

Come As You Are is a hymn written by Deirdre Brown. Brown is an Australian sister, composer, teacher and liturgist who wrote the hymn in a folk style.

The hymn was released in 1986 by Spectrum Publications.

The song has been published in several hymn books but now seems to be out of print.

Australian Carmelite friar Paul Gurr OCarm released the song as a title track on his CD. For this reason some incorrectly attribute him as the composer.

The song serves as a reminder to come as we are. The Lord is waiting with arms wide open.
