Power of Forgiveness: Forgiveness for yourself

I have found that it is easy to forgive others, but difficult to forgive myself.

Right now, I am struggling to reclaim a healthy lifestyle and forgive myself for allowing my health and weight to grow so out of shape.

But, this isn’t the first time I’ve struggled to forgive myself.  After surviving two abusive relationships, I struggled to forgive myself for my part in both of those situations.

Forgiving isn’t easy, especially when we are forgiving ourselves.

Acts 3:19 tell us, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”

When we confess our sins and repent, the Lord blots them out from his memory forever.  However, they continue to keep cropping up in our memory.  That is the word of the enemy and not the Father.

When those memories continue to creep up, I’ve discovered that I can either give into them and slowly sink into a depression or I can ask the Father to help me overcome and battle them.

Do you struggle to forgive yourself?
