Book Review: For Love or Loyalty by Jennifer Hudson Taylor

jennifer hudson taylorI am a big fan of Scottish Historical novels and have greatly enjoyed the other Jennifer Hudson Taylor books I have read.

One again she did not disappoint.

For Love or Loyalty begins in Scotland with the feud between the MacGregor and Campbell clans.  When Duncan Campbell kidnaps two of the MacGregor women, Malcom MacGregor retaliates by kidnapping Duncan’s daughter,  Lauren Campbell.

Lauren is willing to help free her friends, but does not realize the price she will have to pay.  Not until she is aboard ship on her way to America does she realize that she is leaving behind her homeland and all that requires, for a foreign land and life.  She only has her faith to sustain her.

Malcom MacGregor holds onto his anger and need for revenge, but slowly Lauren’s faith begins to show him that there is a better way of life.  The duo face a lot of twists and turns and each sacrifice a considerable amount in their way to a new life in America.  Before it is all over and done with they will have to confront the past before they can move forward.

Once again Jennifer Hudson Taylor has written a masterful novel.  There are plenty of unexpected twist and turns to keep your interest throughout the novel without growing bored.  This is a great read!  The characters are well fleshed out and you can feel the ebbs and flows of their emotions throughout the story.

I look forward to reading the rest of the series and following the MacGregor story through the trilogy.
