When Fear Continues to Rear It’s Ugly Head
I stopped in my tracks. There on my doorstep was a snake.
Granted, it was a small garden snake, but it was still a snake.
I noticed that I took the long way around to the door, he reared his head and watched me. My mind wondered to Eve and if he did the same thing with her in the garden of Eden.
Thankfully, I had a teacher nearby and was able to safely move him to a nearby wooded area.
But, his presence stayed in my mind for days, weeks and even months afterward.
I continued to be on the lookout for him in my yard. I saw him in my minds eyes in the most unexpected areas in the house.
I knew that this wasn’t really about the snake, but about fear. The enemy was trying to grip me with fear and hold me captive.
However, the Lord does not want us to live in fear.
2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
The Lord wants us to overcome our fear so that it no longer has power over us, but that we show self-control and love in the situation.
The Lord was working through this little garden snake to allow me to overcome fears and
mental blocks that had held me hostage for way too long.
What fears do you hold on to? Have you asked God to help you over come that fear?
