Eyewitness to Easter: Pilate, Turned Jesus Over to Herod
“When Pilate heard this, he asked whether the man was a Galilean.” {Luke 23:6}
Pilate asked if Jesus were a Galilean or from Galilee. This gave him the ability to wash his hands of the matter and send him to Herod.
“And when he learned that he belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him over to Herod, who was himself in Jerusalem at that time.” {Luke 23:7}
Pilate sent Jesus over to Herod for judgment and thought he was done with the mater. Soon though Herod sends him back to Pilate.
