Eyewitness to Easter: Pilate, Longed to Free Jesus
“And Pilate again said to them, “Then what shall I do with the man you call the King of the Jews?”” {Mark 15:12}
Pilate wanted to release Jesus but the people refused wanting Barabbas released instead. Now he doesn’t know what to do with Jesus—who the chief priest call the King of the Jews.
“but they kept shouting, “Crucify, crucify him!” {Luke 23:21}
The people cried out for Pilate to crucify Jesus.
“A third time he said to them, “Why? What evil has he done? I have found in him no guilt deserving death. I will therefore punish and release him.” {Luke 23:22}
For a third time Pilate gives them an opportunity to let Jesus go and tells them he found no guilt in him.
“But they were urgent, demanding with loud cries that he should be crucified. And their voices prevailed.” {Luke 23:23}
The people cried out to crucify Jesus.
