Do You Ignore Your Loved Ones
I was reminded this week of just how short life can be. It’s important to cherish the ones we are with and let them know how much we love and appreciate them while we’re with them. We never know when we might not have those little moments together again. Death can come like a thief in the night and leave us with nothing but regret.
It’s so easy to get busy with life and obligations. There are always kids needing to get to lessons and sports events, phone calls to make, emails to check, etc. I know how hard it is. There’s always more work to be done and I’m so guilty of burying my face in the computer and not giving my full attention to those I care about. I have to constantly remind myself of my priorities and to put the distractions up temporarily and give my undivided attention to my loved ones.
How can you show a person you care?
1. Remember to say thank you
2. Give him/her your undivided attention
3. Call your loved one to see how he/she is doing
4. Treat that person to something special or do something special for him/her
5. Give/send a card
6. Put the computer and cell phone {or any other distractions} away for an hour and just listen {I’m really talking to myself here}
7. Take a walk or ride together to have a chance to talk without interruptions
8. Turn the TV off and just talk
9. Have dinner with no interruptions and distractions
10. Set a quiet spot to enjoy together {a room, front porch swing, place by the lake, etc}
May the Lord direct your lives as you show God’s love and Christ’s endurance. 2 Thessalonians 3:5
What are some things you can do to show the people in your life that you care?
Thank you for sharing Lee. This message is always timely, convicting, and convincing. We were made for relationship.
Yes, we were. Thanks Glenda!
Nice touch!
Thanks! It’s a reminder I need at times.
