Worshiping with Music

Finding ways to worship with music is one of my favorite forms of creative praying.

If we spend more than half of each church service worshipping God through music, why shouldn’t we worship him in the same manner in the privacy of our home or car?

David used music all his wife as a form of worship

So, what do the scriptures say about worshiping God with music?    {There are over 100 scriptures about using music in worship.  This is just a small selection.}

  • Psalm 95:1 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
  • Ephesians 5:19  speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,
  • Psalm 105:2 Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.
  • Amos 6:5 You strum away on your harps like David and improvise on musical instruments.
  • Psalm 57:7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!
  • Psalm 87:7 Then those who sing as well as those who play the flutes shall say, “All my springs of joy are in you.”
  • Psalm 147:7 Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; Sing praises to our God on the lyre

So, how can we worship God through music?

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life

  1. Sing praises to God
  2. Play instruments in worship
  3. Listen to praise songs
  4. Sing along with praise songs

Even if you have a busy schedule, you can sing while doing simple tasks such as housekeeping and cooking.  Often, when my schedule is packed, I will worship while performing these tasks.
