Learning to Be Honest with Myself
To deal with my depression, I had to do the hard work to pull back the layers.
A huge part of this included learning to be honest with myself.
I had to be honest with myself about my actions, reasons and motivations.
Through learning to be honest with myself I also had to see and acknowledge my selfish behaviors and desires. My happiness was only when things went my way and not because I felt Godly joy in my heart.
God worked in my heart and through caring for others and loving them with God’s Kind of Love, I was able to better understand if my behavior and motivation was selfish or not.
This wasn’t easy, especially after I’d run from such honesty for so long.
Yet, the more I learned to be honest with myself the more I was able to be honest with others.
In time I realized I was even approaching circumstances in a more mature and productive manner.
To be honest with myself I had to have an understanding of myself.
