Hall of Faith: Zechariah, Spoke Out in Truth
In the Hall of Faith, is described as “they were stoned”.
In 2 Chronicles, Zechariah is a son of one of the high priest. He is regarded as one of the prophets.
In 2 Chronicles 24, Zechariah stands before the people and speaks out about the wickedness of King Joash.
Verse 20 says, “Then the Spirit of God came on Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood before the people and said, “This is what God says: ‘Why do you disobey the Lord’s commands? You will not prosper. Because you have forsaken the Lord, he has forsaken you.’”
In verse 21, “But they plotted against him, and by order of the king they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the Lord’s temple.”
So, what can we learn from Zechariah?
1. He spoke the truth
2. He was not afraid of men
3. He confronted those living against God
4. He spoke for God
5. He died for his beliefs
Zechariah spoke out the truth in a time when it was not popular. He live in such a time today and know how difficult it is to speak out when we are confronted with wrongdoings.
Do you speak the truth?
