The Joy of Family
Today we will have the Christmas party for our residents. The day will be full of good food, music, presents and a visit from Santa.
However, the best part of the party isn’t just for our residents, but also for their family members.
After all, Christmas is all about family.
Sometimes it isn’t easy spending time with family, whether it is a business family, a family of the heart, a church family or a flesh and blood family. There are different personalities, different needs, different opinions and different ways of cooking or decorating or wrapping presents.
Yet, to me Christmas is all about family. The time we have together to celebrate one another and to celebrate Jesus birth.
I find that with each passing year I appreciate the bond of family more and more. I think back to when I was younger and did not appreciate the time we had together as much. But, being in an abusive relationship and unable to spend the holiday’s with my family, has made the holiday all that more special now that we are once again together.
Christmas is the time to heal wounds, forgive and move past old hurts. Colossians 3:13 perfectly sums up God’s hope for His people. “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
So, regardless of what ideocracies or struggles being together brings to your family, take the time to be thankful for one another and to cherish each other.
