Suffering for Others Sins
When I discovered I had to move, I was angry. I paid my rent every month on time.
I was moving not because of something I did, but because of something the owners did.
I was the only one suffering the consequences for their selfish decisions. The news was not new to them, because their actions had caused it. However, they did not bother to let me, or the rental company know they had not been paying the mortgage for years.
My mind began to wander, and I began to wonder how many times had someone else suffered the consequences for my selfish or naïve behavior.
Joseph suffered for the sins of his brothers when they sold him into slavery. For years he suffered for their misdeeds.
But the entire time the Lord was moving and working to place him where he needed to be.
By the time Joseph was reunited with his brothers, only Pharaoh was greater than he was. Joseph told his brothers, “And as for you, ye meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” {Genesis 50:20}
What has others meant for evil that God used for His good?
