Topic Monday: Domestic Violence Series—Life Threatening Signs in an Abusive Relationship
Abusive relationships usually escalate from single incidents to multiple incidents more often. Often a woman will think she is safe, but when she stands up for herself or tries to leave, she may discover exactly how dangerous the abuser can become.
In my situation, I saw the relationship slowly dissolving. The last month we were together we could not even speak to one another in a civil manner. I was working on finding a way out when the situation came to a dangerous head. Looking back I wonder if I would have survived another month.
Once I did leave, I was several states away. I refused to tell my husband where I was and took every protective measure possible.
