Lay Down His Life for His Brother
On September 11, 2001 the World Trade Center was hit by an act of terrorism. While those

in the building were fleeing, the firemen and policeman ran in the opposite direction. These men and women ran into the building to save lives, knowing it could be at the expense of their own life.
On Flight 93, 40 passengers and crew members fought the hijackers and sacrificed their lives to save the lives of those on the ground and at the intended destination.
These men and women paid the ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives to save other lives. Today we refer that as a hero.
When asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus said “That ye love one another, as I

We can all show His Kind of Love with Random Acts of Kindness
have loved you. Better love than a man lay down his life for his brother.” {John 15:12-13}
Giving of ourselves is not easy. We are only human and live in a time where everyone is self centered. Unless, it is required of us through our job or is a family member in peril we have no desire to lay down our lives for our brother or friend or a stranger.
Yet, that is exactly what Jesus said we should do. We should lay down our lives for our brother. It may not be the same type of sacrifice as those on 9/11 but there are numerous other ways to lay down our lives for others.
Instead of focusing on “me,me,me” and “I want…”, Jesus wants us to concentrate on “you, you, you” and “s/he needs…”
That is what Jesus means when he says to lay down your life for another. That is showing “His Kind of Love.”
Could you lay down your life for a brother?
