It’s Okay to Hurt
Today, I am starting a new topic on Monday’s: Hope and Encouragement for the Hurting and Brokenhearted. At some point we all hurt or are brokenhearted from circumstances in our lives whether it is the loss of a loved one, being depressed, an act of violence or a number of other situations.
It’s Okay to Hurt
When I left my abusive relationship I was emotionally raw. I hurt to the depths of my soul.
I discovered, it’s okay to hurt.
In the beginning, there were days I was so numb I couldn’t do anything. Just getting through the day was all I could do and that was okay.
I need time to deal with all I’d been through and process it.
We all process traumatic situations in our own way. There is no right or wrong way to deal with our hurts.
For me I dealt with my pain by:
- Journaling—writing our my feelings and writing letters {never mailed} to those that hurt me
- Playing the Piano—this is always a stress reliever for me
- Drawing—I drew images of what I was feeling when there were no words
- Taking a walk—walking is another stress reliever and the exercise is good for the body and mind
- Prayer—God was the only one that completely understood what I’d been through and that understood the pain I was feeling
If you are hurting, just know that it is okay.
How do you deal with your pain?
