Names of God: Holy One

Holy One is a descriptive name of God, which highlights his holiness.  His holiness sets him apart.

Holy One derives from the Hebrew words qadosh and khasid, which refers to the Lord’s covenant keeping love.

In Hebrew, holy {Kadosch} means being separated from the secular or profane and all evil.

After all, Holy refers to the pure, loving nature of God, which is the opposite of evil.

“The Lord, the holy one of Israel.”                             Isaiah 10:20

“and behold, a watcher, a holy one, came down from heaven.”                   Daniel 4:13

“the Holy One of God.”                                                  Mark 1:24

“But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.”       1 John 2:20
