Cedar Cove TV Review

Cedar Cove is returning to the Hallmark Channel tonight.   I am reposting the review I wrote after the first season.  If you’ve not seen the series, I encourage you to tune in.  The books by Debbie Macomber are well worth the read.

Cedar Cove Series

Hallmark Channel is well known for their heart warming, family movies.  I was excited upon hearing that Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cover Series

would be their first series.  In the last few years I’ve read the series twice.

I was not disappointed with the adaptation to the small screen. Andie MacDowell as Olivia Lockhart was a great choice.  She breathes life into one of the main characters in Debbie’s books.   One of the biggest surprises for me was Teryl Rothery as Grace Sherman.  Reading the books, I pictured her a little more dowdy, but I love the spunk and piazza Teryl Rothery brings to the character.

While some of the storylines have slightly strayed from the series, I don’t feel the disappointment that I did when The Love Series by Janette Oke completely strayed away from the books in the later films.  With Cedar Cove I feel that they are telling stories that stay true to the heart of the series.

I feel as if I am visiting with friends each Saturday evening.  Having so many veteran actors, such as Bruce Boxleitner, Dylan Neal and Barbara Niven,  that I’ve enjoyed in other TV series and projects only heightens that anticipation.

So, if you missed the original airing of the series, I hope that you will catch up on what you missed and join all of us in anxiously anticipating the new season.
