Wellness Tuesday: 7 Types of Fruits
We’ve been talking about the importance and types of fruits and vegetables the last two months.
We discussed starchy vs. non-starchy vegetables.
So what are some types of fruits?
- Tree Fruit—this includes apples, plums, peaches, apricots, figs, plums, cherries, etc.
- Citrus Fruit—oranges, tangerines, lemon, lime, clementine, kumquat, grapefruit, etc.
- Berries—strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, raspberry
- Tropical/Exotic Fruit—bananas, kiwi, watermelon, cantaloupe, etc.
- Compound {or multiple} fruits—pineapple, tomato, mulberry, breadfruit, etc.
- Currant—grapes, gooseberry, etc.
- Miscellaneous types—nuts, legumes, etc.
A large majority of fruits have seeds. Some are large seeds and others are smaller.
When trying a new fruit, research on seeds, peeling, and eating are always a great idea. I’ve seen some fruits that are almost impossible to peel without research to understand the fruit.
However research has proven that almost any fruit is good for you.
What is your favorite fruit?
