Taking time to rest

After weeks of burning the candle at both ends, I was exhausted mentally, emotionally and physically. By the end of the week, I was praying “Lord give me the strength to get up and make it through the day.”  I couldn’t do it in my own strength.

By the time the weekend rolled around, I was so tired I could not move.

I struggled to not be frustrated at the lack of energy not to do what needed to be done.  Instead, I rested and took time for myself.

The next week, I noticed I wasn’t as tired, even by the end of the week.  My attitude was better and I felt refreshed and renewed.

Jeremiah 31:25 reminds us of God’s promise, “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”

To be able to give for others, we have to learn to take time for ourselves, rest and be refreshed.

How do you find time to rest and refresh?
