Behind the Hymn: Is this not the land of Beulah

William Bradbury

Not a lot is known about this hymn.

The records in the public domain attribute the song to William Hunter and states he wrote the song sometime before 1884.

However, other records credit William B. Bradbury with writing the hymn.   He is best known for providing the music for the children’s song, Jesus Loves Me.  John W. Dadman wrote the modern arrangement in 1911.

We will probably never know for sure who actually wrote the hymn, but we can continue to enjoy singing and listening to the hymn.
