Names of God: Creator

A creator is someone who brings something into being.

In the book of Genesis, we are told “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” {Genesis 1:1}

The Lord is referred to as the creator thirteen times throughout the scripture.

A few of these passages include:

and he blessed Abram, saying,

“Blessed be Abram by God Most High,
Creator of heaven and earth. Genesis 14:19

Is he not your Father, your Creator,[a]
who made you and formed you?
                   Deuteronomy 32:6

This is what God the Lord says—
the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out,
who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it,
who gives breath to its people,
and life to those who walk on it:
                   Isaiah 42:5

“Haven’t you read,” he {Jesus} replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’  and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh  Matthew 19:4-5

and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
          Colossians 3:10

So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
          1 Peter 4:19

They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
          Romans 1:25
