Book Review: The Dress Shop on King Street by Ashley Clark

In 1946, Millie Middleton heads to Charleston to keep part of her heritage hidden. She carried two heirloom buttons and a dream of one day owning a dress store. She never expected to meet a man who will change her life and force her to make a heartbreaking choice about her future.

In 2011, Harper Dupree is longing for a career in fashion design, until it crashes around her and she returns to her Alabama home. There she reunites with Millie, who first taught her to sew. The two return to Charleston to find the one person who can provide the answers they seek and possibly even a chance to own the dress shop they both dream of. Only when all appears lost do hey see the unexpected ways to bend the prayed seams and in between.

The Dress Shop on King Street is the debut novel for Ashley Clark and I look forward to reading more of her books. I really enjoyed the way the story was woven between the past and the present.  I also loved the relationship between Millie and Harper. She tied it all together beautifully and I really enjoyed the book.
