True Colors Come Shining Through

I was slow to learn that people will show you their true colors early in a relationship.  If I had listened to others and my gut,  I would have saved myself a lot of heartache and pain over the years.

People will show us their true self if we pay attention

Instead, I chose to push it under the carpet {so to speak} and ignore all of the warning signs.

Several years ago, I had a friendship that I knew something was off kilter, but I wasn’t sure of all of the details.

I asked the Lord to remove the person from my life if we were not a good fit and within a very short time the Lord did just that.  This was not an easy time and the process was very painful.

However, it was also eye opening because I realized the person was showing me their true colors.  If I had been willing to listen in earlier conversations, I would have seen the warning signs.

Who do you show others you are?

Solomon wrote “Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable?”   {Proverbs 20:6}

We have to be willing to listen to who people say they are.  People will show us through their words and deeds exactly who they are.  We then have to decide if this is the kind of friend we want in our life.

When we are not sure, God will show us the truth.  All we have to do is ask.

Have you ever had a friend or love interest who showed you their true colors?  Did you listen to the warnings or ignore them?  Have you asked God to reveal the truth to you?
