Treasure the Moments
Today is my grandmother’s 94th birthday.
Watching her grow older and frailer has not been easy on us to watch. With the loss of
hearing, caring on a conversation is even difficult.
Yet, she is a trooper and continues to push herself to do what she is able to do. She has taught us how to grow old gracefully.
Yet, she’s also told us for over a decade that she is ready to go home to heaven, when Jesus is ready. We are blessed with the assurance that when the time comes for us to part on this earth, we will be reunited in our heavenly home.
She has leaned on the Lord for many years and been a living example to what it means to love the Lord and serve him. The Lord has blessed her with a long life for her dedication.
Isaiah 46:4 says, “Even to your old age I will be the same, And even to your graying years I will bear you! I have done it, and I will carry you; And I will bear you and I will deliver you.”
While my Grandmother has aged and grown wiser over the years, the Lord has never changed. He is the same today as he was when he created the world, when his son hung on the cross for our sins, when our ancestors crossed the ocean for a new world, when my grandmother was born and when she accepted him into her heart at the age of nine and again as a teenager.
We may change and grow, but the Lord never changes. How has the Lord delivered and carried you?
