The Three Gifts of Christmas: Gifts We Can Give to Jesus

We have been discussing the gifts of Christmas. So far, we’ve discussed the three gifts of the wise men and the three gifts Jesus gives to us.

Worship through Music

While Jesus gives us three gifts for Christmas, and all year long, there are three gifts we can give back to him. They are:

  1. Our hearts—Jesus wants our hearts. The first step is to accept him as our Lord and savior and the second is to seek him in all things.  {Deuteronomy 6:4-7; John 3:16-18; Proverbs 3:6; Matthew 6:33; Matthew 22:35-40; Mark 12:28-34; and Luke 10:27.}
  2. Our Time—Jesus wants us to spend time with him through prayer and Bible study. This allows us to listen and hear him and for him to guide and direct our paths. Even five minutes a day is better than no time at all.  There are so many ways to spend time with him even if it’s as we wake up, drive to work, run errands, walk around the block, push the kids on the swings or about to fall asleep. He always has time for us, so why shouldn’t we make time for him?  {James 4:8; Matthew 14:23; Luke 11:1; Revelation 2:2-5; Psalm 127:1; John 15:5; Psalm 46:10; Philippians 4:7; Isaiah 26:3; Psalm 62:8; Colossians 4:2; 1 Corinthians 6:11 and Ephesians 6:18}
  3. Our Worship—the Lord wants our worship both corporately and individually; this can mean uttering praises to him, lifting our hearts in song, dancing, fasting; writing praises and scripture; instruments; thanksgiving; or soaking in his presence and creation. The forms of worship which speaks to the soul are individual to each person because the Lord makes each of us unique and loves us as his own creation. We each have our own personality and spiritual gifts. {Psalm 150:1-2; Psalm 117: 1-2: Exodus 20:3; John 4:24; Deuteronomy 11:6; Ephesians 5:19-20; Psalm 99:5; Psalm 110:2; and 1 Corinthians 14:26; 1 Corinthians 12; 1 Peter 4; Romans 12; and Ephesians 4}

The Lord is looking for the gift of our hearts, our time, and our worship. He seeks a personal relationship with each of us.

Next week we will wrap up the series as we discuss the three gifts Christ offers to us.
