The Struggle to Surrender control

I have a type A personality.  I want things done yesterday and I want to make sure they are done perfectly.

                After three years of having to do everything at work myself, I finally gained an assistant who has become a right hand to me.  However, relinquishing control has not been easy at times.

                I have had to notice this weakness in myself, as we have butted heads and come to terms with whatever the situation may be.

                To be honest, there are other parts in my life where I’ve had to surrender control to the Lord.  He’s continues to guide and direct me on this journey, even when I fight against Him and try to tell Him how things should be done.

                I’m sure he is sitting on His throne shaking His head at me thinking “oh, you foolish girl”.   As I continue to strive to lose weight and get healthy, the Lord is teaching me to surrender control to Him.

                “But now, O LORD, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.”  {Isaiah 64:8}

            When I struggle to surrender control to Him, I’m reminded He is the potter and I am the clay.  He knows better than I do, even when I think I know best.  He has NEVER worked my prayers out the way I envisioned, but He does all for His honor and glory.

            What do you struggle to surrender?

  • I definitely struggle in this area, too, my friend. We are given that free will, then we have to choose whether or not we will give it back to Him and surrender control over it. That is really one of the very few things we do have control over in this life is the extent we will surrender that free will back to God. I hope you are doing well and am so thankful you have an assistant. May the Lord continue to bless you!
