The Attention Seeker

I have a friend that craves attention.  Actually, she demands it.  Regardless of what we are doing, she expects any of us to stop what we are doing and listen to her.

It does not matter that we are busy or that we have heard the story numerous times

We all crave attention at times

already.

We’ve noticed that when others share their lives and interest, she often turns it back around to herself.  There are times when she can be very loving and giving, but if it does not all come back around to her, she doesn’t care.

We have a younger woman, expecting her first child.  But this friend never had children and makes it plain to everyone that she has no interest in this child or hearing about her.

For years this individual was a caregiver.  Whether she was an attention seeker then or if she is making up for the lack of attention all those years, we don’t know.

What is clear is that it has to be about her now.

Often it is difficult to see other’s needs, especially when we are hurting or in pain.

We all find that there are times when it is easy to seek attention from the wrong people.  Too many times in my past I have done just that.

Philippians 2:3 says, “Do not act out of selfish ambition or conceit, but with humility think of others as being better than yourselves.”

God wants us to be there for others and to not set it all on us, but to help others out also.

Are you an attention seeker or an attention giver?
