The Armor of Protection

Recently we went swimming at a friend’s house and the suntan lotion became misplaced.  I ended up with a slight burn that itched for the next week.

We need to protect our bodies, hearts, minds and attitudes

I was reminded that if I had taken care of myself and used the suntan lotion before we left home, as I’d planned, then I would have been protecting myself and my skin.  I would have also prevented myself from the uncomfortable itching I endured for the next week.  No matter how much I tried different remedies to prevent the itching, nothing helped.

As Christians, we need to use our spiritual “suntan lotion”.   By preparing in advance, through prayer, Bible study, scripture memorization, worship and fellowship with fellow believers, we can prevent the itching and discomfort that can come later when we are burned through circumstances in our lives.

Do you put on the Armor of God?

Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”

Satan wants to throw land mines in our path that will burn us and cause us to fall from the path God has set before us.  Only when we stand strong, beseeching God for help and holding firm to his promises, are we able to prevail without the uncomfortable itching and discomfort the enemy thwart.
