Taking Time to Rest

Rest does not come easy for me.

There is too much that has to be done and at times I push my mind and body past where I should.

We all need to take time to rest…

After taking a few days off for rest, I discovered my body fought back and said “that’s not enough”.

I ended up with a severe sinus infection which is no fun. No matter what I did or how much I rested I was still exhausted.

Even after seeing a doctor and being put on an antibiotic I was still tired and exhausted.

I realized that after so many drastic changes in my life in the last three months, the Lord was making me rest.

Sometimes we have to be slowed down and rest whether we want to or not. This isn’t always easy for me.

But, it did give me time to just be still and to commune with the Lord. It gave me time to both speak and listen to His commands. Even when the Lord was silent, I felt His presence and knew He was there with me.

After all, the Jesus tells us “come to me all ye who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”  {Matthew 11:28-29, NIV}

Only now am I beginning to feel like myself, but as I move forward I have to keep reminding myself to take time for me and to rest.

Do you take time to rest?
