Releasing Our Worry

Lack of support from peers at work gets to me at times, especially when we work hard year-round to raise money for our resident’s Christmas presents and endure hurtful comments or apathy from our co-workers.

Frustration built up in me for a long time and when the opportunity presented itself, I voiced these frustrations to my boss.

He didn’t provide me with a clear-cut solution, but he said “you’re too young to let stress get to you. Let me worry about that.”

My mind went to the Lord Jesus Christ.  How many times has he whispered the same words to me. Yet, I insist on carrying the mantle myself and allowing worry to bog me down instead of releasing it to him and trusting he will provide.

The psalmist David reminds us, “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”  {Psalm 55:22}

Help me learn to cast my cares on you, Lord, and release my worry instead of allowing it to bog me down.
