Put God First in All Things

Several weeks ago, we had a missionary from the church I attend, who came to speak and share how the Lord was working.

In closing, she reminded us “Put God first in all things.” She went on to remind us this should be before business, family, hobbies, health, or finances.

I don’t know about you, but I struggle with control. I want to be in control and think I know best.  This is just part of my makeup and the way the Lord made me. There are days when I really battle with the Lord about who is in control and who knows best.

But, no matter how much I struggle or argue with Father God, He wins each and every time.

Sometimes this means turning to the Lord for the big decisions, but I’ve discovered it means also turning to the Lord on even the small things. There are times when a situation or issue seems so small or miniscule, but I have to remind myself to ask the Lord and seek His will.

There are times when He says yes, other times when He says no and still more times when He says wait. But, what is most frustrating at times is when He seems to be silent. Does this mean the answer is yes, I can act now?  Oh, there are so many times I want to do just this. But, He keeps reminding me that this is when I keep turning to Him and asking for guidance and direction.

After all, Jesus told us to “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”  {Matthew 6:33}

Do you seek God first in all things?
