On Eagle Wings

On one of my trips recently, I saw surprised to see a beautiful eagle flying among the trees.  His wings were outstretched as he soared among the tree.  He was such a beautiful sight, freely flying in his natural habitat.

I was immediately reminded of the following passage: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

We often want to rush ahead and do our own thing.  Seven years ago I took things into my own hands and made a lot of mistakes.  I had to learn the hard way and have wasted many years trying to rebuild myself.

I often imagine what life would have been like if I’d waited for the Lord.  I know that wherever life leads in the future, I want to wait for the Lord.  He will give me the guidance and direction I need when the time is right.

In this life we don’t like to wait.  We get impatient and want to rush ahead.  We get tired of being still and waiting.  In Isaiah, God tell us that if we wait on him we will not grow weary.  Sometimes God wants us to rest and grow in Him while we’re waiting.  We may not always understand His ways but He definitely has a reason why we are waiting.  One book over He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11, I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope.”  {GW}

He knows the plans He has for us.  He wants to see us soar with wings of the eagles.  He holds us in the palm of His hand and will not let us go.

Are you waiting on the Lord?  Do you turn to Him when you grow weary?  Are you allowing the Lord to renew you?
