Names of God: Abba

There are many names for God and ways in which people refer to Him. Whether it is Abba, the Almighty God, Jehovah, Elohim or a variety of other variations. So we are beginning a new study to explore these names and have a better understanding of them. 

Means: Father in Aramaic

The word signifies “he close, intimate relationship of a father and his child, as well as the childlike trust that a young child puts in his “daddy.”

This was a common term that expressed affection, confidence and trust

God is our father

“And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”   Mark 14:36

“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!””  Romans 8:15

” And because you are sons, God has sent jthe Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”  Galatians 4:6
