Music Review: Alone Yet Not Alone
The music has a haunting quality, which fills your soul. There are so many times that I have felt all alone. I’ll ask “what is the answer to my quandary?”. The words to “Alone, Yet Not Alone,” remind me that ‘when I stumble and when I fall’ I am not alone. God is there with me, to lift me up and minister to me.
The song is from the movie by the same title. The movie will be released nationally on June 13, 2014. Jenn Gotzon, who played Lydia in the film, provided the best summary of the song I’ve read in a recent interview with Christian Post. She said “It is almost as if God is kissing you in your heart when you listen to it. It transcends the human soul into a place of peace and comfort.”
What makes the song even more powerful is that it is sung by Joni Eareckson Tada. If you don’t know Joni’s story, she was left a quadriplegia at the age of 17, after a diving accident. Instead of allowing her disability to limit her, she turned it around and made it her ministry for Christ.
Joni shares her story of depression and anger after her accident. There were times when she felt alone, angry and that one else cared. Now, she’s reminding us through both her story and this song, that we are “Alone, Yet Not Alone.” I promise you that if you open your heart, this song will minister to you.
Do you ever feel alone? Do you ever wonder if there is hope or if anyone cares? I want to encourage you to remember that you are “Alone, Yet Not Alone.” There is one person that loves you and is with you, and if you ask Him into your heart, He will guide your steps and way no matter how dark the path seems today. That person is Jesus Christ.
*Note: You can learn more about Joni’s story through her book, Joni Eareckson Tada: Her Story or the 1979 film, Joni.
