His Kind of Love: Love Means Discipline

I’ve shared openly about my struggle to lose weight. One of the biggest lessons I have learned in my journey is to develop a discipline in my eating patterns.

How has God disciplined you?

How has God disciplined you?

Is this easy? Absolutely not!

I struggle and keep working every day to make the changes that are needed.

However, I’ve discovered I cannot make these changes on these own. I’ve tried and did not succeed.

Only when I asked God to help did I see a difference began to take place.

That doesn’t mean that I immediately reached my goal. I’ve still not reached my goal, but I can tell you the changes God has helped me to make.

Part of the Christian walk is learning to have discipline. Max Lucado said, “God loves us too much to indulge our every whim.”

1 Timothy 4:7 tells us “discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness.”

God wants us to discipline ourselves. Part of showing His Kind of Love is loving ourselves. Part of loving ourselves is to discipline ourselves. Often loving ourselves is the greatest challenge of all.

For each of us the areas where the struggle will be different.

For me the greatest struggles has been with my weight and finances.

However, this struggle is not in vain.

God is drawing me closer to Him. He is showing me that I can’t make the changes alone. He is revealing His power and strength.

By developing discipline, I become more like Christ.

How has God disciplined you to draw you closer to Him?
