Living a life of integrity

Our pastor retired several weeks ago and the one thing that was consistently mentioned about him was that he lived a life of integrity.

Integrity means being honest and open {although you don’t have to share everything}

Integrity is defined as “the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles”.

He exhibited this integrity both from the pulpit and in his personal life.  He was not afraid to address the hard issues we face in life, but also share his own struggles and personal examples of lessons learned.

So, what does it mean to live a life of integrity.  The best place to find that answer is in the Bible.

 

 

Here are 9 scriptures that describe living a life of integrity.

  1. The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. {Proverbs 11:3}

    The Lord does not like lying lips

  2. Better the poor whose walk is blameless than the rich whose ways are perverse. {Proverbs 28:6}
  3. Keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. {1 Peter 3:16}
  4. The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. {Proverbs 12:22}
  5. To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. {Proverbs 21:3}
  6. The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth. {Isaiah 26:7}
  7. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give

    Where do your eyes look?

    careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.  Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.     {Proverbs 4:25-27}

  8. I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me. Because of my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever.  {Psalm 41:11-12}
  9. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. {Philippians 4:8}
