Lifting Others Up in Intercessory Prayer

This has been a week that has been full of needs and prayer request at every turn.

What if we lifted our enemies up in prayer?

Everyone in my department, plus several other co-workers have had serious prayer request ranging from serious health issues to a house fire and so on.

I’ve had family and friends reach out for prayer with needs ranging from health issues to the death of a loved one.

Finally, as I scroll through my feed on Facebook, I stumble across one prayer request after another.  Request for health issues, travel safety, for ministry concerns, for the well being of a loved one and so forth.

Do you wait on God in prayer?

Each of these are a serious concern and need and I strive to stop for a moment and lift the need up to our Father in heaven.

However, as I look around and stop to consider how many people in our lives have needs.  These are only the ones that we are aware of.  How many more are there that we know nothing about.

There are many times when I have nothing more to offer than my prayers.  Yet, this is not a promise to be taken lightly.

Philippians 2:3-4 says, “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.”

God wants us to not only look out for ourselves, but also for others.

After all, I’m reminded that one day I may be that person in need.  I know of times when intercessory prayer saved my life.  I’m sure there are many other intercessory prayers I will never know about the impact they’ve had on me this side of heaven.

So, as you come into contact with the people in your life do you take the time to stop and pray for them?
