Let Us Rejoice….HE IS RISEN

Happy Easter! Easter is one of my favorite holidays. The day we remember that Jesus did not stay dead, but He Arose! 1 Corinthians 1:18 says, “For the word of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.” The cross cleansed our sin, but the resurrection gives us a reason to celebrate.

Can you imagine being Mary Magdalene? She went to the tomb to tend to Jesus body, but when she arrived the stone had been rolled back. When she looked inside, Jesus was not there, He was risen! Jesus had tried to explain to His followers that He would not stay buried, but they did not comprehend what He was saying. I don’t think we would have either, if we were walking in their footsteps.
Matthew 28:2-6 describes the scene this way, “And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled away the stone, and sat upon it. His appearance was as lightning, and his raiment white as snow: and for fear of him the watchers did quake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye; for I know that ye seek Jesus, who hath been crucified. He is not here; for he is risen, even as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

Can you imagine how radiant He must have looked? Mary Magdalene, Simon Peter and the other disciples did not recognize Him at first. Once they did recognize Him, they fell to His feet in worship and awe.

Even today we need to fall to His feet as we worship Him. Jesus wants us to draw closer and closer to Him with each new day. The Easter story would not be complete without the Resurrection. Otherwise Jesus would just be another prophet. Because of the Resurrection we know He’s the Son of God.

Matthew 28:18-20 tells us “And Jesus came to them and spake unto them, saying, All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth. Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”

Because He Lives” we know “His Kind of Love.

Do you know Jesus love? Do you fall in awe at His feet in worship? Does Easter bring you joy because there is eternal hope, or is it just another holiday?
