Learning to Rest

I’m a workaholic.  Not only in my day job, but also with my ministry.

I woke up one Saturday morning with the intention of writing.  This was my busy time of

We all need to take time to rest…

year at work, but I still had writing commitments that had to be completed.

Well, as they say “the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.”

That was the case for me that day.  Nothing went as planned.

To start with the chord on my laptop stopped working and I had to order another.

That provided me with a weekend to rest and perform other task that needed to be tended to {such as cleaning house}.

There are times when we have plans to work or perform a task, but God has other plans.

There are times when we need to learn to rest.  For workaholic’s like me, that is often easier said than done.

…and to relax

Yet, the Lord even told us to rest.  After all, he created the world in six days and rested on the seventh. {Genesis 2:3}

David wrote in Psalm 23:2-3, “He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.”

The Lord wants us to work, but he also wants us to rest.  That is easier said than done for some of us.

But, in order to stay healthy, we have to find the perfect balance between work and rest.

Do you struggle to find the perfect balance between work and rest?
