Gifts of the Spirit: Leadership and Administration

We are exploring our spiritual gifts.  One of these gifts is leadership and administrator.

There are some who are natural born leaders and others who are followers.

Leadership—Romans 12:8 describes leadership as “he that ruleth” in the KJV.  The

Are you a leader?

Message says “ if you’re put in charge, don’t manipulate.”    Leadership is described as “This gift speaks to the various leadership roles found in the Church. While many think of roles such as administration, management of funds, strategy planning, etc. as functions outside of the supernatural realm, in reality individuals in these positions are just as in need of supernatural empowerment as are ministers of the gospel. Some writers consider the gifts of governments and leading to be the same gift, but others consider them closely related yet different.”

Administration—1 Corinthians 12:28 says “ So God has appointed some in the church [for His own use]…administrators.”    Administration is described as “the process or activity of running a business, organization, etc.”.   This includes managers, directors, and those in charge or command.

Would you be able to steer the ship through administration?

Our guide says, “Also called the gift of governing, the Greek word translated “governments” is kubernesis, the verb form of which means “to steer” or “to be a helmsman”. This gift then refers to the God-given capacity to lead or guide the Church through storms and difficult seas.”

The gift of leading others is a gift.  It is also a huge responsibility.  We are responsible for others and called to a higher standard, as we set an example for those we are leading and directing.

Do any of these spiritual gifts relate to you?  Are you a natural leader or follower?
