Joseph, takes Jesus to the Temple

Joseph witnessed the birth of Jesus and saw the magnificence of the angels and shepherds arriving to worship the Christ child.

The next mention we have is of the parents taking the child to the temple.

Luke 2:27, “and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, that they might do concerning him after the custom of the law”

The parents are not mentioned by name, but we know they are Joseph and Mary.

They have brought Jesus to the temple when he is eight days old, as is the custom of the law.

While he is there scripture tells of two encounters.  One with an old widow named Anna and the other with a righteous man named, Simeon.

In this verse, Simeon takes the child in his arms and blesses God.

Fast forward to verse 33, “And his father and his mother were marveling at the things which were spoken concerning him.”

Again, the emphasis is on the words Simeon spoke and the Christ child, but we know his father and mother are present.
