TV Series Review: Fuller House
Growing up in the 80s, I grew up with the girls on Full House. Throughout the years, I have continued to enjoy the sitcom through re-runs.
Full House is still on the air almost 30 years after it’s debut
So, I was excited when I discovered that a re-boot of the series was being made. After all, Girl Meets World had done a wonderful job of bringing us the next generation from 90s sitcom Boy Meets World.
So, the question was how would the reboot to Full House work and would it be just as good?
Netflix premiered thirteen episodes for the first season last week. The response has been so overwhelming that a second season has already been ordered.
The premier episode does a wonderful job of seamlessly pulling together Full House with the reboot {so it’s not really a reboot, but more like a sitquel {sitcom + sequel}, Fuller House. The entire cast, except for the youngest sister, Michelle {Mary Kate and Ashley Olson}, have reprised their role. {Although Michelle is mentioned.}

The premise for Fuller House is that D.J. Tanner-Fuller is now a widow with three sons of her own. Her sister, Stephanie, and best friend, Kimmy, and her daughter, Ramona, move in to help D.J. raise her sons.
D.J., played by Candace Cameron Bure, deals with being a single mother and re-entering the dating world, along with complications in her work life. Her ex-boyfriend from high school, Steve, even shows up with the intention of stealing her heart. Jackson, her oldest, is a typical boy coming up with wild schemes. Her middle son, Max, is the serious child who has taken lessons in cleaning from his Grandfather. Then there is the baby, Tommy, who adds the cute factor.
Stephanie {Jodie Sweetin} is following in her Uncle Jessie’s footsteps, as the wild child, who is struggling to build a singing career and express her creativity.
Now the girls are grown up with families of their own
Kimmy {Andrea Barber} is dealing with issues with her ex-husband, teenage daughter and life as an entrepreneur.
Danny Tanner {the girls Dad}, Uncle Jessie, Aunt Becky and Joey all appear at various times throughout the first season to provide guidance and humor for the girls and their children. The show would not be the same without Bob Saget, John Stamos {also a producer of the show}, Lori Loughlin, and Dave Coulier reprising their iconic roles.
Fuller House also hosts a variety of other special guest’s stars and does not shy from making reference to pop culture. At times, they even make fun of themselves or plug other endeavors the actors pursue. Even the iconic catch phrases made popular during the Full House days are worked into the script at times.

Fuller House picks up with the lives of the girls from Full House. Joining them is like catching up with an old friend, as if time has never passed. The girls are living a full life in the modern 21st Century and do not shy from making fun of themselves in the 1980s or embracing the culture changes that have evolved over the last thirty years. Each episode features lessons for the Full House girls and their offspring to learn and demonstrate a realistic look at life and issues of today.
If you loved Full House, Girl Meets World, Boy Meets World, or good clean wholesome sitcoms, you will enjoy Fuller House.
