Forgiving Those Who Hurt Us

I had my heart broken and had been betrayed and I was angry.

However, I had a choice.  I could stay angry or I could learn to forgive.  I chose to forgive.

I forgave for my own good more than anything and there is nothing wrong with that.

In the book of Genesis, is the story of Joseph.  He was Jacob’s favorite son, but the other brothers resented him.  The brothers sold him into slavery, where he was taken to Egypt, and eventually imprisoned.  While imprisoned, Pharaoh brought him to him to interrupt a dream and he was made into the highest person under Pharaoh.  His brothers came before him during the famine asking for help, but the brothers did not know who he was.  After testing them, Joseph revealed himself to his brothers, forgave them and was reconciled with his father.

Forgiving his brothers couldn’t have been easy, but Joseph chose to forgive his brother, just as I forgave those that hurt me.

Joseph was reunited with his brothers and forgave them

Forgiveness helps you to:

  • Let go
  • Move forward
  • Learn to love yourself
  • An Act of Strength
  • Put the past behind you
  • Reduce stress
  • Sleep better
  • A Gift to yourself
  • Have peace

Jesus said Matthew 6:14-15 says, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

Have you forgiven those that hurt you?
