Confessions of an Overachiever

I have a confession to make.  I’m an overachiever.

I have a habit of taking on too much and longing to accomplish too many things, both in my professional and personal life.

I’ve found myself lately, praying and asking God to take away these desires that are not of His will.  But, letting go of fleshly desires are not easy.

Still, I’m learning that I have to say no, back away, make changes and take time to rest.

Overextending myself often leads to exhaustion, but can also later lead to health issues.

Wisdom is knowing when to speak and when not to speak

Proverbs 22:3 says, “The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.”  {NIV}

By seeking wisdom and God’s will, I am discovering where to focus my priorities and energies to carry out God’s plans and not mine.

This isn’t easy because I am dying to my human desires, but learning to keep my eyes on the Lord and His will.  I’ll admit, I still have a long way to go, but each day I continue to seek and strive.

Do you keep your eyes on your desires or the Lord’s?
