Wellness Tuesday: You Can’t Care for Others Unless You Care For Yourself

i love meRecently, I had to see the doctor for a physical for a new job.

I have to admit I wasn’t looking forward to it.  I knew he was going to tell me to lose weight.

However, he told me something else also.  This isn’t something new or ground breaking.  This was something I’ve said before and even written about in the past.

He said something that I already knew, but was full of excuses of why it was so difficult.  He listened while I talked and then reiterated his statement.

So, what did he say?heart

“You have to take care of yourself before you care for others.  If you’re not able to care for yourself, you’re not going to be able to care for others.”

That’s so true, because whether you’re caring for children, ailing parents, a spouse or someone else—you have to be able to care for them and yourself.  This means being able to care for them.

Who do you care for?
