Book Review: Angels Walking by Karen Kingsbury

Karen Kingsbury just released her second novel in the Angels Walking series.  I am looking forward to reading Chasing Sunsets after reading the premiere book in the series.

I love Karen Kingsbury’s older books, but had grown disillusioned with some of her more recent novels.  With Angels Walking, she is back at the top of her game.

Angels Walking is about a former national baseball star Tyler Ames suffers a career-ending injury and hits rock bottom, all he can think about is putting his life back together the way it was before.  On his way to the top he lost everyone he loves.  His one true love, Sami Dawson, lives on the other side of the country and has moved on with her life.  Through a series of small miracles Tyler begins to get his life back on track and find healing, just not in the way he thought.  He learns a lot from his friendship with Alzheimer’s patient, Virginia Hutcheson, at the retirement home where he works.

The story is an easy read that gives you a lot to think about.  How much do angels intercede in our lives and we are not even aware?  How often do we entertain angels unaware?

Because I work daily with Alzheimer’s patients, I loved the character of Virginia Hutcheson, and was able to relate to her struggles and the details of her life.

I could also relate to Tyler Ames struggles as he worked to find his way back from rock bottom, make amends and find healing.

Angels Walking is a novel I highly recommend.
